5,Character: It is anhydrous or contains 1.5 hydrates. Anhydrous form occurs as white, granular powder and hydrated form occurs as white, translucent crystal or granule. It's odorless and smells alkali. I air, it's very deliquescent. It's freely soluble in water and aqueous solution is alkaline. It's insoluble in ethanol or ether.
